Helping Tasmanians to be work-ready
Two grant programs are now open to help Tasmanians build the literacy and numeracy skills needed to thrive at work.
Minister for Skills and Jobs, Felix Ellis, said the 26Ten Workplace and Get Ready grant programs would ensure more Tasmanians have the essential skills required to participate fully and confidently in work.
“Strong literacy and numeracy skills change lives,” Minister Ellis said.
“These skills help Tasmanians participate more confidently at work, stay safe on the job, and contribute fully to their communities.
The Get Ready grants, up to $5,000, will help organisations engage an adult literacy trainer to identify and address language, literacy and numeracy skill gaps, while the Workplace grants, up to $65,000, will assist employers to deliver tailored projects that build practical skills for employees.
Minister Ellis said the grants reflect our Liberal Government's strong commitment to improving adult literacy in Tasmania.
“We are delivering for Tasmania by ensuring people have the skills they need to succeed,” Minister Ellis said.
“A strong focus of the Tasmanian Skills Plan is to prepare people for work, ensuring adequate language, literacy, numeracy, digital skills, and general employability skills are developed.”
The two grant programs are key activities under the Ensuring Access to Foundation Skills specific policy initiative in the National Skills Agreement (2024-2028), which is a joint initiative between the Australian and Tasmanian governments.
