A dozen new officers reporting for duty
Tasmania Police welcomed 12 new constables into its ranks today, with recruit course 5/2025 officially graduating from the Police Academy.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management, Felix Ellis, congratulated the new constables.
“These new graduates have completed an intensive 28-week course to successfully reach graduation day and achieve their dream of becoming a police officer,” Minister Ellis said.
“After honing their policing skills, with both skills‑based training and hands‑on experience, our new constables will jump straight into our 24-hour Police stations and bolster our frontline.
“From carpenters to customer service officers, our new graduates have come from all walks of life, bringing valuable perspectives that reflect the community they will serve.
“Tasmania Police is the most trusted police service in the country, and after rigorous training we are confident our newest recruits will live up to the high standards Tasmanians expect.”
As the Tasmanian Police Academy marks its 50th anniversary, the Tasmanian Government has invested $4.1 million in upgrades to ensure the academy remains fit for purpose and capable of recruiting, housing and training a growing number of police recruits.
“These upgrades have ensured that we can keep the strong pipeline of recruitment going,” Minister Ellis said.
“This Liberal Government is delivering for Tasmanians, investing in our police service to keep Tasmanians safe.”
The 12 new constables - 6 women and 6 men - will be assigned to Hobart, Launceston, Glenorchy, and Burnie stations.
